With this edition, we welcome the insights and perspectives of two new authors, both established Federal Courts scholars. As always, we have kept the book fresh and up to date by incorporating new cases and new scholarship. This edition includes two new Supreme Court cases (Rucho v. Common Cause and Edwards u. Vannoy) as principal cases, and dozens of Supreme Court and lower court cases as Note cases. We have streamlined some chapters by cutting back on older cases and doctrines, and added additional new material on topics such as standing in the absence of adverse parties and current questions regarding the Bivens doctrine. Overall, we hope the book remains both teachable and stimulating. Once again, we thank our families for their continuing support.
