The Object-Oriented Thought Process (4th Ed.)
This Book's Scope. As the title suggests, this book is about the object-oriented (OO) thought process. Although choosing the theme and title of a book are important decisions, these decisions are not at all straightforward when dealing with a highly conceptual topic. Many books deal with one level or another of programming and object orientation. Several popular books cover topics including OO analysis, OO design, OO programming, design patterns, OO data (XML), the Unified Modeling Language (UML), OO Web development, OO Mobile development, various OO programming languages, and many other topics related to OO programming.

The Golden Ticket: P, NP, and the Search for the Impossible
The P-NP problem is the most important open problem in computer science, if not all of mathematics. Simply stated, it asks whether every problem whose solution can be quickly checked by computer can also be quickly solved by computer. The Golden Ticket provides a nontechnical introduction to P-NP, its rich history, and its algorithmic implications for everything we do with computers and beyond. Lance Fortnow traces the history and development of P-NP, giving examples from a variety of disciplines, including economics, physics, and biology. He explores problems that capture the full difficulty of the P-NP dilemma, from discovering the shortest route through all the rides at Disney World to finding large groups of friends on Facebook. The Golden Ticket explores what we truly can and cannot achieve computationally, describing the benefits and unexpected challenges of this compelling problem.

The Elements of Differentiable Programming
Artificial intelligence has recently experienced remarkable advances, fueled by large models, vast datasets, accelerated hardware, and, last but not least, the transformative power of differentiable programming. This new programming paradigm enables end-to-end differentiation of complex computer programs (including those with control flows and data structures), making gradient-based optimization of program parameters possible. As an emerging paradigm, differentiable programming builds upon several areas of computer science and applied mathematics, including automatic differentiation, graphical models, optimization and statistics. This book presents a comprehensive review of the fundamental concepts useful for differentiable programming.

The DevOps Handbook: How to Create World-Class Agility, Reliability, and Security in Technology Organizations (2nd Ed.))
More than ever, the effective management of technology is critical for business competitiveness. For decades, technology leaders have struggled to balance agility, reliability, and security. The consequences of failure have never been greater ―whether it's the healthcare.gov debacle, cardholder data breaches, or missing the boat with Big Data in the cloud. And yet, high performers using DevOps principles, such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Etsy, and Netflix, are routinely and reliably deploying code into production hundreds, or even thousands, of times per day. Following in the footsteps of The Phoenix Project, The DevOps Handbook shows leaders how to replicate these incredible outcomes, by showing how to integrate Product Management, Development, QA, IT Operations, and Information Security to elevate your company and win in the marketplace.

Systems Performance Enterprise and the Cloud (2nd Ed.)
Welcome to Systems Performance: Enterprise and the Cloud, 2nd Edition! This book is about the performance of operating systems and of applications from the operating system context, and it is written for both enterprise server and cloud computing environments. Much of the material in this book can also aid your analysis of client devices and desktop operating systems. My aim is to help you get the most out of your systems, whatever they are. When working with application software that is under constant development, you may be tempted to think of operating system performance—where the kernel has been developed and tuned for decades—as a solved problem. It isn't! The operating system is a complex body of software, managing a variety of ever-changing physical devices with new and different application workloads. The kernels are also in constant development, with features being added to improve.

System Design Interview An Insider’s Guide (Vol. 2)
This book can be seen as a sequel to the book: System Design Interview - An Insider’s Guide. It covers a different set of system design interview questions and solutions. Although reading Volume 1 is helpful, it is not required. This book should be accessible to readers who have a basic understanding of distributed systems. This volume provides a reliable strategy and knowledge base for approaching a broad range of system design questions that you may encounter. It will help you feel confident during this important interview. This book provides a step-by-step framework for how to tackle a system design question. It also includes many real-world examples to illustrate a systematic approach, with detailed and well-explained steps you can follow.

Software Engineering for Absolute Beginners
Certain principles in software development remain the same, regardless of which company you work for. If you consider a company with 200 employees and a 1,000,000 clients, and compare it to a company with 2 employees and 150 customers, you should notice two things. The bigger company has different problems to solve with regards to infrastructure, scalability, and keeping their code base clean with a potentially large development team. The second thing you should notice is that both companies also have similar problems to solve, such as security, keeping the code base clean, deployments, writing clean code, and using proper software engineering principles to design good code. Even if you build a website for your cousin's brake skimming business, security, proper coding principles, and architectural principles are very important.

Software Design for Flexibility. How to Avoid Programming Yourself into a Corner
This book is a master class in specific program organization strategies that maintain flexibility. We all know by now that while it is very easy to declare an array of fixed size to hold data to be processed, such a design decision can turn out to be an unpleasant limitation that may make it impossible to handle input lines longer than a certain length, or to handle more than a fixed number of records. Many security bugs, especially in the code for the Internet, have been consequences of allocating a fixed-size memory buffer and then failing to check whether the data to be processed would fit in the buffer. Dynamically allocated storage (whether provided by a C-style malloc library or by an automatic garbage collector), while more complicated, is much more flexible and, as an extra benefit, less error-prone especially when the programming language always checks array references to make sure the index is within bounds.

Rust for Rustaceans. Idiomatic Programming for Experienced Developers
For developers who’ve mastered the basics, this book is the next step on your way to professional-level programming in Rust. It covers everything you need to build and maintain larger code bases, write powerful and flexible applications and libraries, and confidently expand the scope and complexity of your projects. In this book learn: How to design reliable, idiomatic, and ergonomic Rust programs based on best principles Effective use of declarative and procedural macros, and the difference between them How asynchrony works in Rust – all the way from the Pin and Waker types used in manual implementations of Futures, to how async/await saves you from thinking about most of those words What it means for code to be unsafe, and best practices for writing and interacting with unsafe functions and traits How to organize and configure more complex Rust projects so that they integrate nicely with the rest of the ecosystem How to write Rust code that can interoperate with non-Rust libraries and systems, or run in constrained and embedded environments.

Real-World Web Development with .NET 9
This book is different. It is concise and aims to be a brisk, fun read that is packed with practical hands-on walk-throughs of each subject. The breadth of the overarching narrative comes at the cost of some depth, but you will find many signposts to explore further if you wish. This book is simultaneously a step-by-step guide to learning modern C# and proven practices using cross-platform .NET, and a brief introduction to the fundamentals of modern web development, along with the creation of websites and services that can be built with these technologies. This book is most suitable for beginners to C# and .NET, as well as programmers who have worked with C# in the past but may feel left behind by the changes in the past few years.
