What exactly is wrong and why? Tutorial Dialogue for Intelligent CALL Systems
The paper introduces DiBEx, a dialogue-based explanation facility designed for Intelligent Computer Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) systems. Unlike traditional systems that rely on explicit error taxonomies, DiBEx utilizes meta-reasoning to construct an explanation tree based on correct grammatical subtheories. This approach enables anticipation-free error diagnosis. The authors describe how the system engages in a tutorial dialogue with the student, where each step is governed by a specific tutorial strategy and a dynamic user model, aiming to help students self-explain and correct their own errors in language learning tasks.

Transitivity and the BA Construction
In this paper, I discuss the legitimacy of positing a Transitivity Projection (= TrP) in the BA construction in Mandarin Chinese. BA has been proposed to be a semantically-bleached verb, inserted in the v position. Several pieces of evidence such as manner adverbial placement and GEI-insertion indicate that there must be a functional projection between the vP and VP to host the BA NP. I propose that a TrP is probably the most apt candidate for the XP. I also argue, in contrast to the proposal by Huang, Li and Li (2009), that the present proposal which employs a TrP captures most of the properties of the BA construction. A comparison with the structure of the BEI construction also shows that the TrP proposal fits into the general picture of current linguistic theory on transitive constructions without extra stipulations.

“To say what you are trying to say”: Douglas Livingstone’s personae in A rosary of bone (1975b & 1983)
This article offers a critical overview of the personae Douglas Livingstone (1932-1996) adopts in two editions of the collection "A rosary of bone". Following a tripartite structure, it deals with the love poems, the translations, and the Giovanni Jacopo poems, arguing that the collection breaks new ground as Livingstone begins to explore new voices and techniques with which to write about his thematic preoccupations. Such personae permit the poet more acerbic, satirical, or even angry stances, with voices not to be found in the earlier volumes of his work, reflecting his persistent determination to evoke the planet’s beauty and its concomitant squalor through the ambiguity and paradoxicality of the truths he uncovers.

The Lexicographic Treatment of Ideophones in Zulu
The ideophone, a word class not unique to but highly characteristic of the Bantu languages, presents particular challenges in both monolingual and bilingual lexicography. Not only is this part of speech without a counterpart in most other languages, the meaning of ideophones is highly elusive. In this research article these challenges are studied by means of an analysis of the treatment of ideophones in a corpus-driven Zulu–English school dictionary project.

The form and function of space in the Jonah narrative in Prudentius Cathemerinon 7.81-175
This article provides a narratological analysis of the structure and function of space in the Jonah story as told by Prudentius in Cathemerinon 7.81-175. The analysis is based on a modification of Gabriel Zoran's theory, investigating narrative space on both the textual and plot levels. The study explores how topographical nature, ontological principles, and perspective shape the narrative's spatial environment, while also examining the synchronic and diachronic relations that define the movement and change within the chronotopos of the story.

The Distribution of the Lexical Component in ELT Coursebooks and its Suitability for Vocabulary Acquisition from a Cognitive Perspective. A Case Study
The paper investigates the distribution of lexical components in ELT coursebooks from a psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic perspective. The author analyzes essential conditions for vocabulary acquisition, including repetitive practice, communicative relevance, and the impact of explicit versus incidental learning. Through a case study, the research evaluates how textbook design—specifically lexical frequency, distribution, and activity types—supports long-term memory formation, proceduralisation, and automatisation. The findings compare existing teaching materials against cognitive research to determine their suitability for effective vocabulary development in language learners.

THE ATTITUDES OF TEACHERS AND STUDENTS TOWARDS USING ARABIC IN EFL CLASSROOMS IN SAUDI PUBLIC SCHOOLS- A CASE STUDY
This paper examined the attitudes of Saudi teachers and students towards employing Arabic as a facilitating tool in English classes, a topic which has gained wide attention recently. The present study was a case study which investigated teachers' and students' attitudes towards this issue in a Saudi intermediate school for females. To reach a clear understanding of this issue, the study focused on one intermediate classroom which had 30 students and three teachers of English in the entire school. Three research tools were used for gathering data: questionnaires, interviews and four observations of one classroom. The results revealed that the attitudes of the teachers and the students about using Arabic were generally positive. The participants preferred using Arabic in certain situations and for specific reasons. Although the attitudes of the teachers and the students received agreements, there were other points on which they disagreed. Recommendations for future studies and solutions were discussed.
