Business Basics consists of twelve thematically-linked units, each of which are sub-divided into either three or four unit sections. The main teaching points of each section - which may be grammatical, functional, or grammatical — are set out in the heading box, and are marked in bold type in the Contents page tables (Student’s Book, pages 3, 5, and 7). The course is primarily designed to be used continuously, and an element of revision has been built into the structure of the course (as shown in the Revision column of the Contents page tables). However, the units and sections can be presented in a different order, or can be omitted completely, depending on the specific needs of the students with whomthe course is being used.

Strategic Reading
Each unit ends with an invitation for students to complete a timed reading task. Students are Minstructed to re-read one of the texts in the unit, presumably the one they understand best, and to time themselves as they read. They then record their time in the chart on page 124 so that they can check their progress as they proceed through the book. (Naturally, there is no harm in students re-reading and timing themselves on every text in a unit. However, this could- be motivating for all but the most ambitious of students.)
