Методы палеогеографических исследований.

В книге рассмотрены существующие методы палеогеографических исследований. Приведены методы и приемы выявления местонахождения областей сноса, характера древней суши и древних бассейнов, характера былых климатов; использования данных о тектонических движениях при палеогеографических реконструкциях; составления палеогеографических карт. При этом основное внимание уделено описанию полевых и общедоступных методов, которые могут быть использованы геологами-производственниками. Рассмотрены также проблемы изменения физико-географических условий осадконакопления в течение геологической истории Земли в связи с эволюцией биосферы, которые следует учитывать при палеогеографических реконструкциях.

Cancer is a broad group of diseases associated with the uncontrolled, unregulated growth of cells. Much more active than normal cells, cancer cells divide at rates that far exceed those of the parent cells from which they arose. Cancer cells also do not mature into specific cell types, as do normal cells. Cancer cells cannot carry out some of the functions of normal cells, which in turn can seriously affect a patient’s health.

Materials Science and Engineering (An Introduction)

In this Seventh Edition I have retained the objectives and approaches for teaching materials science and engineering that were presented in previous editions. The first, and primary, objective is to present the basic fundamentals on a level appropriate for university/college students who have completed their freshmen calculus, chemistry, and physics courses. The second objective is to present the subject matter in a logical order, from the simple to the more complex. Each chapter builds on the content of previous ones. The third objective, or philosophy, that I strive to maintain throughout the text is that if a topic or concept is worth treating, then it is worth treating in sufficient detail and to the extent that students have the opportunity to fully understand it without having to consult other sources. The fourth objective is to include features in the book that will expedite the learning process.

This is a continuation of the preface given in the first edition, also reproduced in this edition. Most of my observations enumerated in the preface of the first edition continue to be applicable for this edition as well, although a lot of progress has taken place in this area over the past 5 years, and hence not repeated here. Since the publication of the first edition of this book in August 2011, more advances have taken place in industrial automation technology. The purpose of this edition is to cover these new developments to the extent possible. As stated earlier in the first edition, industrial automation technology is one of the few engineering domains that employ many modern technologies. I have continued the same style followed in the first edition in this edition with specially formulated and simplified illustrations and discussions to facilitate easy understanding. This edition is organized in three parts.
