Maren Freudenberg, born in 1983, is a sociologist of religion at the Center for Reli-gious Studies, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany. She obtained her PhD in soci-ology at Freie Universität Berlin, where she was a member of the Graduate School of North American Studies. Считается само собой разумеющимся, что творческий вклад в разработку форм отвлекает внимание от функции. Недолгие размышления показывают, что все, что касается функции дизайна, должно быть достигнуто путем работы над его формой. Моя формула для этого трюизма: форма обеспечивает функцию. Моя всеобъемлющая теория архитектуры — теория архитектурного аутопоэза1 — определяет различие формы и функции как ведущее различие в архитектуре, в результате чего форма является внутренней ссылкой дисциплины (то есть нашей текущей ответственностью), а функция — это внешняя ссылка дисциплины (то есть наша конечная ответственность перед обществом, опосредованная через наше производство форм). Моя теория далее подчеркивает, что разработчики функциональности (в отличие от инженеров) должны быть связаны с социальной (а не технической) функциональностью. В общих чертах, социальная функция архитектуры и проектных дисциплин — это пространственно-морфологическое упорядочение и формирование всех социальных процессов взаимодействия.
