SESOTHO PLANT AND ANIMAL NAMES AND PLANTS USED BY THE BASOTHO
The idea of having a Sesotho Plant and Animal dictionary started in the 1990s when departments at the then Qwaqwa Branch of the University of the North were being encouraged to form interdisciplinary research projects. Eventually, in 2005, I was honoured to be invited by Professor Rodney Moffett to be part of his team in compiling this dictionary.

However we ourselves are animals and we impose specific animal requirements on everything else biological. Plant lovers are constantly on the lookout for newer plants for their gardens. With its wide variety of geoclimatic conditions the tropical indian gardens provide a variety of habitats for raising local and introduced plants. Our gardens present floral elements of the Himalayas, the northeastern belt, the river deltas, the montane and sub-montane tracts of north and central India, the southern plateau, the littoral regions and the western and eastern ghats.

Plant Life of Southwestern Australia. Adaptations for Survival Adaptations for Survival
Much is known about the southwestern Australian flora. The impetus for preparing this book was the need to compile this vast knowledge base into one publication. We would like to thank members of the Department of Environment and Agriculture (and its predecessor the Department of Environmental Biology), Curtin University, Western Australia, for their support and encouragement during the writing phase, especially Professors Jonathan Majer and Jacob John. Special mention goes to the thousands of students we have taught in the undergraduate unit ‘Flowering Plants/Australian Flora’ (and their predecessors) for inspiring us to make this book a reality.
